The Ethos Education Foundation Trust
The Ethos Educational Foundation Trust (the Trust) was established in November 2012 as part of Ethos’ transformation strategy to provide a positive impact to address Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) transformation in South Africa, through Education.
The principal objective of the Trust is to provide financial assistance and support to previously disadvantaged individuals to study, therefore, creating opportunities to enter the Financial Services Sector. The benefits are spread equitably amongst previously disadvantaged black men and women.
Since inception, the Trust has sponsored four students in achieving their respective qualifications at the Universities of Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria in the areas of Financial, Engineering and Accounting.
The Trust is overseen by a committee headed up by independent chairman, Mr Peter Mageza.
The Trust partners with The Tomorrow Trust to assist with administration and to increase its reach. The Tomorrow Trust is a South African non-profit organisation that supports orphaned and vulnerable children throughout their educational journey.
It is the Trust’s ambition to grow in scale and provide funding to more disadvantaged beneficiaries over time.
The success of this initiative has been driven through Ethos’ close collaboration with The Tomorrow Trust in providing beneficiaries with a sustainable mentorship and vacation work programme to enhance opportunities for future employment.
“Working at Ethos was nothing short of amazing. Everyone works hard and that motivated me to want to work even harder.”
– Lindo Khoza, Ethos Trust beneficiary & vacation student
“Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to work with Ethos and to put a face behind the names of people who have invested in my future and people that see our potential more than anything else. It was a rewarding experience.”
– Linda Diphoko, Ethos Trust beneficiary & vacation student
“South Africa is in crises on many levels. The main underlying foundation has to be education. No country can be successful without an educated youth who will then become active members of our society and economy.
This impacts the private sector with needed skills and buying capacity from a population who have earning power.
The Tomorrow Trust relationship with Ethos is one that we value tremendously!
The commitment to educating youth who are dedicated to changing their lives and those of their families is one that deserves support and encouragement.
The Ethos Educational Foundation Trust has made this commitment with dedication and belief in each individual student’s potential.
They have proven that they are making a positive impact financially as well as through role modelling and mentorship.
As a package, this will serve to make sustainable impact that will break generational poverty.”
